Hello everyone, two days ago our 5-year-old niece, Scarlet, was taken to Sacred Heart in Spokane. She had been struggling the past year with strange health issues and motor functions. She received a CT scan shortly after arrival. The scan showed a tumor in her head creating massive amounts of pressure. They Life-flighted her to Seattle Children's Hospital where she went into emergency surgery to relieve some of the pressure in her head. After that, they gave her an MRI and put her into another surgery to remove the tumor. The MRI showed that Scarlet had more tumors in her head, and one in her lower back. The biopsy comes back on Wednesday to determine what kind of tumor it is-- then they will have a better idea of what is next. Burl and Rebekah (her parents) are both at Seattle's Children's with Scarlet right now. Rebekah was able to fly with Scarlet and Burl had to drive from Spokane to Seattle-- they are figuring out what their next steps are. They won't have any answers at least until Wednesday. This first goal will help alleviate the cost of gas, food, housing, etc. while they are in this waiting game. Obviously, they are working with the hospital right now to get set up with financing for Scarlet but that doesn't cover personal expenses and loss of work income. Please consider helping this young family during this tragic and confusing time. -Tessa P.S. I will update when I know more.
