UPDATE 11-17-23: My landlord raised my rent $600 and I was unable to find a roommate in time to stay in my home. My only saving grace was a section 8 voucher, but the list filled up faster than I could click submit. I was able to buy a truck and camper on credit cards, one that has no APR for 15 months, and the other that has a high APR. My truck was towed the same day I was going to register it and get my plates. I'm now out an additional $230 + and Uber. That was money to go towards a lot to park the camper when I have to move out. ANY DONATIONS DESPERITLY NEEDED. I'll be selling my car as soon as I can drive/climb into the truck. Also, I will be selling anything that won't fit into the camper hopefully through an estate sale. On the morning of June 18th, 2024 (Fathers Day) my left foot suddenly went numb and became paralyzed. An hour later, my knee began to go limp, and soon after my hip. I knew I was going to have call an ambulance, so I texted my neighbor and asked her if she could watch my pets while I was gone as I was about to dial 911. I also texted A'nna to tell her what was going on and to let mom know.  I wasn't sure if this was a new neurological symptom or a stroke, so as the paralysis worked its way up to my arm I crawled off of the couch, onto the floor and was just bearly able to reach the front door lock to unlock it. I felt the left side of my face droop and then snap back, as though the stroke went up to my face and then retreated down to my neck. The firefighters were first to respond, then EMS. I could speak clearly, was a bit confused, and could not move the left side of my body from the neck down. Everyone assumed the event was neurological, not a stroke base on the presentation of symptoms. It wasn't until the neurologist at Roper St. Francis Hospital walked into the room and said " I wasn't expecting to see that bleed", that I knew it was indeed a stroke. I had a hemorrhagic stroke in my right frontal lobe. To be more specific, I had an acute-subacute intraparenchymal hematoma in the right frontal lobe measuring up to 4.3 cm with localized mass effect and surrounding edema. About 13% of all strokes are hemorrhagic. The estimated survival rate for hemorrhagic strokes is around 26.7%. Yet I'm still here. I survived. However, my time spent in hospital and rehabilitation meant a time for no income to be earned. My only unearned income is social security disability and VA survivor's benefits. This was barely enough to cover monthly rent, bills, and basics before the stroke, So, I also watched people's pets on the side for extra income. Until the stroke... Now back home after four weeks in the hospital, my finances are a bit precarious, to say the least. My best friend and life partner is between jobs so he can stay with me at home throughout my recovery. However, that means a whole lot of income not coming in for at least the next three months or more. I'm not asking YOU for much. Just $5 or $10 to cover food and other basic living costs over the next several months. And of course a SHARE this fundraiser with your family and friends. Alone we may not have a chance, but with community, famlily, and friend support I think we can make this a strong and total recovery, together.
