Hello family and friends! As many of you know, Emilio has had a rough patch of medical issues this past year. His condition of spina bifida has proven to be very difficult to manage as he has grown. Since he was about 6 months old he started receiving physical and occupational therapy, it has helped him tremendously. This past year he was able to swim about 3 weeks during the summer and his doctors and therapist were extremely impressed with the improvement in his body. He walked better, had better posture and was in overall better health. After his swim lessons ended his physical improvements declined. His doctors and therapist are recommending regular swimming to improve & strengthen his muscles. Due to his bowel issues we are not able to take him to a public pool at a gym. Unfortunately we don’t have the financial means to build a pool. We desperately want to help him in any way possible. We will be forever thankful for your help and prayers! Hola familia y amigos!Como muchos de ustedes saben, Emilio ha tenido muchos problemas médicos este año. Su condición de spina bífida ha demostrado ser muy difícil conforme ha crecido. Desde los 6 meses de edad comenzó a recibir terapia física y ocupacional, que le ha ayudado enormemente. El año pasado tuvo la oportunidad de tomar clases de natación por 3 semanas durante el verano y sus médicos y el terapeuta estaban extremadamente impresionados con la mejoría en su cuerpo. Caminó mejor, tenía una mejor postura y mejoro su salud en general. Al terminar sus clases de natación, sus mejorías físicas disminuyeron. Sus médicos y terapeutas están recomendando la natación regular para mejorar y fortalecer sus músculos. Sus problemas intestinales no nos permite llevarlo a una piscina pública en un gimnasio. Desafortunadamente no tenemos los medios económicos para construir una piscina. Desesperadamente queremos ayudarle en todo lo posible. Estaremos eternamente agradecidos por su ayuda y oraciones!
