This summer was not exactly what Rob and I had in mind. About a month ago I found a lump, and after several scans, biopsies, and blood tests we got the unfortunate results that it was indeed breast cancer. Rob and I met with my surgeon and decided that the best course of treatment and future prevention was to schedule a double mastectomy. We are so blessed to have an amazing surgical team and an even more amazing community around us praying and supporting us. Several people have asked how they can help and right now that is a hard question to answer. We are still waiting for a surgery date (hopefully in the next 2-3 weeks). We are also still jumping through hoops with insurance to figure out what we will need to pay for up front or after treatment. I will also be out of work for about two months after surgery. I added a list below of things we know we are going to need now and after surgery. Asking for financial help is hard, but all of these hurdles come with price tags and every doctors visit adds up quickly. If you feel called to give financially we are so very thankful, but if you cannot, the biggest thing we need is prayer. Prayer needs: 1. For the cancer NOT to spread to my lymph nodes while we wait for a surgical date. 2. For a surgery date to open up ASAP 3. For peace for Rob and I because the journey is long and recovery will be very hard on both of us. 4. For favor with insurance to work with us and not against us 5. For Hugh to be shielded from as much of the scary side of this as possible.
