Hey all, My name is Tatum, I am Stephanie's daughter. I've gone back and forth on starting this for a while .. but our family could really use all the love and support we can get❤️ Here is a quick recap of mom's health struggles + the purpose of this fundraiser: For those who are unfamiliar with my mom's health journey, I will try and sum it up as best I can In 2012 my mom had her bladder removed due to bladder cancer. She was made a new bladder out of her intestines and thankfully got rid of all the cancer. Fast forward to the last 2+ years - because her bladder is made of intestines. naturally, there is going to be bacteria in it. Unfortunately, she has had severe kidney infections at least once a month for the last several years. Now, she is in the hospital at least 2 times a month for infection and put on strong IV antibiotics. Eventually, her body will no longer take on the antibiotics because of resistance .. we are terrified because this could happen at ANY time. She has one kidney, and it is on the edge of failing as well. When this kidney fails, mom will 100% rely on dialysis. Her doctor here in AZ has done everything he can to baby this kidney and keep it going. Every infection mom has damages the kidney more and more. It has been decided that the best thing we can do right now is to proceed with surgery to remove the bladder and source of infection. This surgery will take place at UCSD, and she will need to stay in CA for several weeks after surgery. We went to CA last week to meet with the doctor and discuss the surgery. Of course we are going to go over to CA as a family so we can be with her through the entire thing.❤️ This surgery is the last thing we can do to try and prolong the life of her only kidney. As a family we will be staying in CA for about 3 weeks, and the cost to stay that long is more than we can take on (place to stay, food, gas, etc.), so I have decided to ask for help. The financial part of this should not be an added stress to my parents and I am going to do everything in my power to make that happen. This surgery and mom's current health is more stressful than I like to talk about, and I know this would be a tremendous weight lifted off their shoulders. We can't thank anyone enough for all the love and support. For those are unable to donate, I ask just that you please share this with your friends and family.❤️ THANK YOU! XOXO, Tatum
