Hi everyone,For those of you who know us, you know this week has been an especially hard and emotional one. For those of you that don't, I'll provide a little background on why we needed to create this...On Wednesday October 14, just a week after our daughter's 7th birthday, my husband Jeremiah Mead was struck on his motorcycle on the 5 freeway while trying to get home to take over kid-watching duties so I could go to class (I'm in nursing school currently). As the minutes turned to hours of not hearing from him, I knew something had to be wrong... and unfortunately I was right. Some of the kind people on the Facebook Group "Biker Down Alerts [SoCal] " reported seeing the accident and informed that he was cut off from the carpool lane and pushed into a lane where he was then hit into the rear bumper of another vehicle. The impact caused him & his bike to fly several feet in the air, landing about 20 feet apart. Jeremiah was taken to the hospital and remains in ICU, due to a considerable amount of damage to his left hand, head and internal organs. He hasn't woken up since the accident and is currently using a breathing tube. He's made it through his first surgery to reconstruct his hand, which we're anticipating will take a lot of physical therapy to regain strength and mobility.Jeremiah is a husband and father of 3 (ages 10, 8, 7), who recently started his own business. I've been in nursing school and taking care of the kids while he works. Needless to say, times will be pretty tough without his income to support both the family & the medical expenses. If you're able to help or donate, anything you're able to contribute is very much appreciated. Our family is trying to stay strong through this difficult time, and it would be a great relief to not have to worry about how we'll pay for this, but that's unfortuantely the world we live in.Thank you to everyone for your love and support, both family, friends & strangers. We promise to keep you all updated on his recovery and let you know when he wakes up.
