Hi! My name is Ariana and I’m setting up this fundraiser for my sister, Alyssa. Alyssa was pregnant, with a due date in September for her third child- a baby boy! Last week, she developed flu-like symptoms: headache, chills, fever, and didn’t think much of it until her temperature suddenly jumped to over 104℉. Since she was 32 weeks pregnant, she decided to go to the hospital to get checked out, thinking it would be a quick trip and that they’d send her home with some antibiotics or that it was just a virus. Unfortunately, that was not the case. Just a few hours after arriving at the hospital, she was transported emergently by LifeStar to a larger hospital with the dangerous medical condition sepsis, which threatened both Alyssa’s life and that of the baby boy in her womb. That same night the family had to make a very difficult decision, it was a life-or-death situation for both Alyssa and the baby, and she had to have an emergency C-section. Her body had gone septic and there was not time to spare. Fortunately, the C-section went well and both Alyssa and the baby survived the surgery. Unfortunately, Alyssa still is fighting for her life in the ICU with sepsis while also recovering from a C-section. They named their beautiful new son Brayden and he will be in an incubator in the NICU (neonatal intensive care unit) until his due date in September. I'm creating this LFEBridge to support Alyssa, her husband Brandon and their two young children, Brody and Brooke, through this horrific time. Medical expenses are piling up, as Alyssa has spent 5 days in the ICU and will be in the hospital for longer when she is moved out of the ICU. Brayden will also be in the NICU for over 6 weeks. Alyssa also had to take medical leave from work 8 weeks earlier than expected and will have to travel to the hospital every day to bring freshly-pumped breast milk to her son. Brandon and Alyssa are such amazing parents and people and to have had this happen to them is simply heartbreaking. The funds raised here will be used for medical bills, travel expenses, and to help them get through this difficult time. Any amount you donate will help them through this trial and they will appreciate it so much! With many, many thanks Alyssa and Brandon’s entire family ❤️
