Hi, I’m Heather LaPeer and I never thought I’d do anything like this but here we go, I’m fundraising for my family. My husband, Rob, and I have 3 boys. We’ve been married for over 15 years. He is definitely the strong, can do anything, providing “man of the house”. My husband, has been having medical issues since April of 2024. It started with tingly numbness in his fingertips. We’ve been to multiple doctors who kept referring us to other doctors again and again. We eventually ended up at a neurosurgeon who, after looking at multiple x-rays and MRI’s called to set up an emergency surgery. He had a spinal cord injury where a disc was cutting into it. It took months to get to that diagnosis. He was out of work for months. I worked two jobs to try and help and we ended up barely making it through. His cord is now back to its normal shape but there is a dead spot in his neck where all of his nerves have to travel through. His nerves are sending wrong signals from having to travel through that spot. He has severe nerve damage and cannot work like he used to. He’s an autobody technician, so it’s a lot of manual labor which had become nearly impossible for him. He has lost feeling in one leg and the other is barely functional. He has numb fingers, he cannot feel throughout most of his body. We went to a new doctor about a week ago who is telling us about another preventative surgery he needs. He needs to have bone removed that is one accident away from severing his spinal cord completely. He will be out of work for 3 months to recover from this surgery. He will lose his job. He has been the bread winner in this family and it’s now desperate enough that we’re asking for help. We’ve been barely scraping by for years now but this surgery will completely put us under. We would truly appreciate your help and be forever grateful. All funds raised will go towards extra medical expenses, bills, and groceries. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and for any donation you make. It’ll help much more than you know.
