Hello All, In late June, Cortney and Alex learned their new baby girl has spina bifida, an opening at the end of the baby's spine. During this news, they learned that they needed to travel to Houston to receive the utmost care for Baby Micah and Cortney. Spina bifida can have a range of medical needs and complications per baby and each case is individual to the family. In Cortney and Alex's case, it was decided that surgery at close to 24 weeks would be the best option for Baby Micah's success before her birth. She has an opening on her spine at the L4-S5 and in-utero surgery will decrease her risk of complications to 20% from 80%. It will double her chance of walking and living a normal life. They are currently in Houston and will need to stay for at least 4 more weeks for Cortney and Micah to recover post-surgery. At this scary and confusing time, they are looking for donations to support medical and travel bills while they continue this journey. Baby Micah will have numerous appointments following her birth which means lots of travel to Omaha and maybe beyond. Cortney, Alex, and Bailey are so excited to welcome Baby Micah into this world and make sure she has the best and healthiest life possible. They are excited to be a family of four and to surround Micah with love and the support of the Hyde family and friends. You can join their private Facebook here and keep up with Baby Micah's journey https://www.facebook.com/groups/971865664030975 A major thank you to all who contribute on behalf of myself and the Hyde family!
