The Catholic Answers family has lost one of its most beloved members. After a long battle with cancer, on October 21 our seminar coordinator Monica Duren passed peacefully into the arms of Our Lord.Over the last six years, if you have ever booked Tim Staples, Jason Evert, Leah Darrow, Matt Fradd, Trent Horn, Hector Molina, or any other speaker through Catholic Answers, you probably interacted with Monica. You surely would have noted her kind and helpful spirit. She had such a positive light about her, and even in the most trying of times she always had a warm smile and friendly conversation for anyone she encountered. Monica was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2013. After surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy, her cancer went into remission and she returned to work. In the summer of 2015 it had metastasized to her brain and then her spine, and did not respond to further treatment.Monica loved her family more than anything on earth, and when she was first diagnosed, her prayer was to see her younger daughter, Dominique, graduate from high school and her older daughter, Paige, graduate from college. She was blessed to see both those prayers answered. In addition to her daughters she leaves behind her husband Frank, son Mike, and mother Mary, who resides with them. The years of Monica’s cancer treatment took a heavy financial toll on her family. Our hope is that through the compassion of those who read this we’ll be able to ease the burden somewhat. Our goal is $30,000. The staff of Catholic Answers is appreciative for any contribution you can make toward this cause. Monica touched the hearts of many, and those she leaves behind will always love her.
