Hi everyone, I'm Kathryn and I'm putting together this fundraiser on behalf of my mother, Alison, and our family. About a year and a half ago my mother was hospitalized due to a severe infection in her foot. I ended up moving back home from Hungary to help take care of her as she needed someone with her most of the time and my father, Jeffrey, works 50+ hours a week. Since then she has been under the direct supervision of multiple doctors and she was making excellent progress. Unfortunately, there was an unknown second infection in the same foot, and around a month ago my mother had to have her foot amputated. Fortunately, she has had various teams of incredible doctors and nurses and she is healing well and is an excellent candidate for a prosthetic. We are so happy that she is healing well and will be coming home soon. All that being said, there have been various financial burdens and there will be more to come. As my mother was sick prior to this instance, she was not working so my father is the main provider for the two of them. As my mother requires care that cannot be given on the island, he has had to take intermediate days off of work to go off the island and visit my mom. Fortunately, as a school teacher, I have been able to use my summer vacation time to go back and forth between visiting my mother and getting our home ready for her return. The good news of my mother coming home also includes various house renovations that we need to do: bathroom, porch, ramps, etc. We have been lucky thus far and had numerous friends and family checking in and helping us this past month with various tasks, and we cannot thank you enough. We are so grateful for the kind messages, practical help, and any donations that can be made at this time. All of it helps our family get the best possible care for my mother's continued health.
