Tessa was born in February 2018 with a very complex Congenital Heart Defect. She had LTGA, VSD, ASD, Pulmonary Atresia, Aortic Stenosis and a Hypoplastic Right Coronary Artery. She spent most of her first year of life in the hospital with her longest stay being 338 days. Tessa was listed as Status 1A on the transplant list in July 2018. She was blessed with her miracle heart in February 2019. We are beyond grateful for her donor and their family for giving Tessa the gift of life. Tessa finally made it home in May 2019. Tessa has had countless surgeries, procedures, and scans. She is a fighter and handles all her medical procedures and appointments with grace. Tessa is doing a wonderful job learning how to walk and she has made great gains! Just recently, Tessa got her trach removed. She passed a swallow study and is now ready for a specialized feeding program so her g-tube can be removed. Tessa has had a gtube since she was 3 months old. It is her current means of providing nutrition. The next big step for Tessa on her journey is to learn how to eat. She is very enthusiastic and ready to learn! The specialized feeding therapy program will occur daily for several hours about an hour away from her home. Tessa will see several specialists each day for 6 weeks straight. Each separate specialist has a daily copay. The cost of copays, travel expenses, parking garages, etc. will add up quickly. We are hoping to alleviate the financial burden this places on Tessa and her family. They have been extremely dedicated to Tessa's care and we feel that this support would be a blessing to their family.
