The Aboriginal Tent Embassy in Canberra Australia having now stood for 43 years is THE longest standing protest site in the world. Situated on the lawns of the old parliament building, a stones throw away from the new. It has stood as a point of education, advocacy and a sober reminder of the Australian governments hidden shame and unfinished business. To this day it still stands and functions as a voice for the voiceless and now in the hands of a new young generation we plan to install a big arse megaphone and bring the embassy into the 21st century. A new circle of young warriors have spent the last 6 months rejuvenating and laying down foundations to support a wide array of activities and trouble and have done so with zero government or corporate support. Independence is vital for true advocacy and the embassy stands as a symbol of what we can do when we stand together. Sadly not everything can be found in supporters sheds or in the back of business dumpsters so after consultation with our elders we have been authorised to seek funding and solidarity from abroad. This is the first phase of fundraising to test the waters and to gather much needed materials to prepare for a national meeting of tribes from across the country in what we hope will be the spark of relighting the fire and spirit of our people and nations. All support is welcome and if you would like to know more please email me at [email redacted]Power to the people,Sacred fire keeper of the Tent Embassy,Roxley Foley
