Hi, Templeglantine Community First Responders ('CFRs')went ‘ live’ in April, 2024. We are a voluntary group of CFRs who provide a 24-hour community-based service to support the National Ambulance Service. We are not publicly funded, therefore we need to raise money to operate. We have been lucky enough to raise enough money to go 'live' but we desperately need to raise funds so that each volunteer is equipped with a defibrillator and we need your help to do this. We have 11 volunteers at present. The cost to equip one volunteer with a defibrillator and high viz jacket is €1,500. At present, we have 4 defibrillators and therefore there are 7 volunteers who do not have defibrillators. We need your help to raise €10,500 (7 x €1,500). We provide a vital, potentially life-saving service to the local communities of Templeglantine and surrounding area. We have had callouts in Templeglantine, Abbeyfeale, Newcastle West etc, mainly concerning chest pains, strokes, heart attacks and cardiac arrests. How do we operate? Once you make a 999 or 112 call to the emergency services, the paramedic who answers the call dispatches our group, if appropriate. The First Responder/s then travel to the patients' address to provide the appropriate care (which may include CPR and Defibrillation) to the patient until the ambulance crew arrive to take over treatment. Our volunteers are Damien Mulcahy, Áine Mulcahy, Willie Harnett, Joe McAuliffe, Carmel Finnegan, David Larkin, Ann Marie Buckley, Kevin Larkin, Gerard Sexton, Willie Larkin and John Kelly. All donations will be gratefully accepted. Thank you. Templeglantine Community First Responders
