Hi everyone, my name is Hannah, I’m the oldest granddaughter of Donna and Ted. I’m starting this fundraiser with the support of my family in hopes to raise money for my grandparents. As many of you know Ted has been fighting a long cancer battle over the last few years. He was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2016. After multiple rounds of chemotherapy and radiation he was eventually declared cancer free in 2019. Unfortunately within the past two years his complications from prior radiation have flared up and he has developed neuroendocrine carcinoma cancer which they have been treating since. This cancer has been hard to treat because of his prior battle with prostate cancer. Ted’s journey with cancer has taken a harsh turn this summer with many unexpected ER visits, last minute drives to the Mayo Clinic, and multiple scans/procedures. The cost of these visits/traveling/food has been a heavy weight on their shoulders. My grandma continues to give back to her community by working as a CNA in Pine River, but she has had to use most of her vacation time to travel to Mayo Clinic with Ted. For those of you who have the privilege of knowing these people, you know that they would do anything you needed without question. They have welcomed family members into their home, they have drove around the state to support their grandchildren, and they continue to volunteer and work in their community. Many of us know someone who has been impacted by cancer in some way either personally or through a family member, it’s not something you’d wish upon anyone. My hope with this fundraiser is that we as a community can come together to give back to two people who have given their all and decades of work, volunteering, and support to our community. Any support is greatly welcomed and warmly appreciated. All funds will go directly to Ted and Donna to pay for their living expenses and medical travel expenses.
