Aubrey Elizabeth Steinkamp was born a healthy happy baby on May 2, 2013.  Soon after birth she was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis.   Amazingly, and by God's grace, she is and has been a very healthy baby who simply has the diagnosis but has no symptoms. This past May, while having her annual cystic fibrosis check up, it was discovered that she had an abnormality associated with her 8th vertebra.   Upon further testing it was found that she has an aneurysmal bone cyst that is wrapped around her 8th vertebra and ultimately affecting the growth of her spine and putting her spinal cord/column at risk.  Upon seeing the neurosurgeon, it was determined that the best course of treatment would be to see a specialist at Nationwide Children's Hosptial in Columbus OH.  Here Aubrey will undergo a series of multiple injections into the cyst in hopes of dissolving the cyst and also promoting bone growth.   Currenlty the vertebra in question is collapsed with a fracture noted  and the cyst takes up 80% of the space. Aubrey and family will need to travel back and forth to Ohio 5-8 times over the next year and a half.  Travel and medical expenses will add up fast and for this reason we are asking for your support as they take on this long extensive journey.Kimberly, Aubreys mother,  often states "everything happens for a reason" and in this case it is absoultey true.  Had Aubrey not had CF and had she not had her routine xray, this abnormality may not have been noticed until much later in age and perhaps not until she was in extremen pain, or worse, an accident involving her spinal cord had occured. We would like to say in, advance, thank you for your monitary support as well as for your thoughts, prayers and well wishes. We will, through this venue, update you on Aubry's journey and progress as we move throughout the next 18 months. Sincerely,Team Aubrey
