As many of you know, in 2016 I was diagnosed with stage 2 triple negative invasive ductal carcinoma, an aggressive form of breast cancer. I underwent six months of chemotherapy and then had a bilateral mastectomy to remove all breast tissue from my body. I have been NED (no evidence of disease) for 7 years now! In 2017, I began the reconstruction process to reclaim my body from the scars the disease caused. In that one year, I had 5 surgeries due to multiple complications. I was tired of the constant back and forth and took some time off to just recoup. I. 2019, I had another surgery to remove tissue under my arms and around to my back. The tissue was sent to path and all looked good to continue. But due to an unexpected move and then Covid, I never got to finish. I’m excited to say that I am FINALLY going to be able to close this chapter in my life! I have been seeing a plastic surgeon at MD Anderson and she has scheduled a DIEP flap reconstruction surgery for August 28. This 6-8 hour surgery takes tissue from my belly and moves it to my breast to form a more natural look and feel. I will need to be in the hospital for a few days and then take 6-8 weeks off of work to recover. This will likely be the first of two surgeries, the second being some time next year after I have fully healed from this one. I found out yesterday that my medical leave from work will be unpaid. So this is where I need help. I can’t go several weeks without an income, but for my mental health and self esteem, I cannot go any longer without fixing my body. If you are able, please help my family out so we can pay rent and bills while I am off. Thank you so much for all the love and support! Taylor #taylorneedsanewpairofboobs
