My Story As most of you know, my name is Tanis Baer, and I am reaching out to you today with a heart full of hope and a determined spirit. I am a 55-year-old woman who is facing cancer for the third time in ten years. Doctors have recently diagnosed me with terminal stage IV metastatic, triple-negative breast cancer. My journey with this disease has been a long one; I was first diagnosed with breast cancer back in 2012 and then again in 2019. In that time, I have had multiple difficult surgeries and batteries of tests, and painful treatments. This past spring, I received my most recent diagnosis. Despite the challenges cancer has thrown my way, I continue to live my life in the way I always have --believing in the power of positivity whether it be as a friend, a family member, a coworker, or a member of the dance community. My Journey to Health I would like to begin the third part of my cancer journey with an intensive stay at a private treatment center that is located in Canada. This facility offers integrative cancer therapies combining conventional medicine with complementary and holistic approaches which focus on treating the whole person. This treatment center offers specialized cancer care that is second to none, but these treatments come at a very high cost. How You Can Help As a result of my diagnosis, I am unable to work or teach, and I find myself in a position where I am asking for your generosity and compassion. I’m calling on my community to help me financially on my journey to provide me with the best medical attention possible and move forward in my journey to heal and have the healthiest and happiest future. Your generous contributions will help cover the expenses for my travel, accommodation, treatment costs, and other related expenses during my journey toward health and healing.
