Hi, my name is Kerry and I'm trying to raise funds for my sister Tamesia Brown, who's disability vehicle has reached the point of no repair and desperately needs a new vehicle for her transportation needs. Tamesia is 30 years old and is cared for fulltime by her aging parents, Bronwyn and Cliff, and her wonderful support carers. Tamesia has high needs disabilities, requiring 24/7 care. She is non-verbal, PEG-fed and confined to a specialised wheelchair and bed. She has a neurological disability, which is an unknown syndrome, along with epilepsy, complex regional pain syndrome, scoliosis and Wolff Parkinson syndrome (heart condition). She has undergone many operations and long stints in hospital throughout her life, but still smiles each and every day. Tameisa's Mum and Dad have devoted everything they have to provide her with the best life possible. They have spent all of their savings to renovate their home, so that with support, Tamesia can stay living in her home, surrounded by those that love and care for her. Recently their long serving vehicle (26 years old Toyota), fitted with wheelchair access hoist, has broken down and the repairs required are too exhaustive to be financially viable. Due to her modified wheelchair height, Tamesia requires a Toyota Hiace Commuter style van to cater for her access due to height of her chair. This specialised style vehicle to suit a disabled person's requirements are not readily available second hand and new vehicles are quite expensive, especially with the added expense of fitting a hoist. With Tamesia's health requirements, she requires regular specialist appointments and at times can need to go to hospital if issues arise. Her vehicle was her only mode of reliable transport. Due to her disabilities, taking a disability taxi has not been an option. They can be unreliable with pick up times for getting to appointments and with her condition, she gets tired very quickly and can really only sit in her wheelchair for around 2 hours. If they do not turn up on time, it impacts her life immeasurably. Like all people, Tamesia loves to get out and about in the world, even if it is for shorter periods of time. She adores animals, the outdoors and the ocean and without a vehicle, she is restricted to being at home and taking trips in her wheelchair around the neighbourhood. In these difficult times for everyone, I would truly appreciate any support that anyone can provide in helping us get Tamesia some freedom to get out and about in the community to help her live her best life with those that love her. Thank you for your support. Kerry
