On Thursday, December 3rd, I will have surgery to remove a very dense cataract from my left eye. I have lost 90% of my vision. I see blurred images but no details. I am able still do my daily routines, but the one limitation I have is driving at night. The picture I submitted shows what people see when they look at me from the outside. But inside they don't see the growth that is pressing against the wall in the back of my eye. As a writer, publishing editor and avid reader my eyes are the tools of my trade. I have to have surgery on both eyes, but I am only asking for help with the left because it is the worst. Medicare will pay for traditional surgery, manual scraping and slicing by the doctor, and then its drawn out. Medicare will not pay for the laser surgery option which is faster and gentler because it is a new technology. If I could have raised the money by offering my services or selling my books, I would not have created this fundraising project. I ask for your help because I have no other choice at this moment.I thank you in advance for your support.Respectfully,Deborah Smart
