In 2013, after a year of worsening pains, endless questions and countless Emergency Room visits, an MRI scan revealed multiple Neuroendocrine Tumors throughout Yoly’s liver. Despite the long journey Yoly and her husband were determined to lean on each other with the help of their family & friends and through the strength of the Lord. And over the last ten years, they’ve done just that. Yoly underwent several treatments that temporarily stopped the tumors in her liver from growing and spreading to other places her in body. In 2017, however, a follow up MRI scan revealed new tumors in her lymph nodes and in her bones. Then, another MRI in May 2024 revealed that the cancer had spread to her spine. She is in the middle of an 8-dose chemo and radiation treatment that targets the tumors found in her spine in May. Earlier this week Yoly woke up with debilitating back pains and a new MRI scan revealed several new tumors on her spine, advancing her diagnosis to stage IV cancer. Her doctor has ordered that she take a break from working to rest while she continues to fight. Yolanda is a dedicated and loving wife to Jose, a mother to her three treasures, Jose, Orlando and Yahaira - who describe her as the strongest woman anyone will ever meet with faith that can move mountains. She is a sister to her 5 siblings - who know her to be the most selfless and generous woman that would take the shirt off her back without hesitation for anyone who needs it. She is a friend to many who just by knowing her, have felt and seen the light and love of God. And if you’ve ever been in her home, she undoubtedly has served you a home cooked meal, made with love, served with heart of servitude. She is a woman of faith who has surrendered this fight to the One who wins every time. If you are familiar with Neuroendocrine Tumor Metastatic to the Liver, Lymph Nodes and Bones, you know that it is a slow-growing cancer. And although we recognize what a blessing it is for her to have been fighting cancer for ten whole years, the reality is that this fight has caused a steady, long-term financial hardship for Yoly and her husband. Determined to be by his wife’s side through this battle, Jose hasn’t missed one single ER visit, appointment, chemo treatment, and radiation treatment. The cost of missing work for those appointments, coupled with the costs of medical bills, treatments, the IV fluids for her dehydration, and all other expenses, has become overwhelming; and with Yoly now having to take time off from work, we are asking for the help of friends, family and supporters to help alleviate some of Yoly and Jose’s financial burden. Donations will go to payments for treatments she has received at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. We are grateful for any way you can contribute, big or small, to help our strong, loving Yoly continue fighting. We will keep you posted on Yoly’s progress and we ask that you keep her and her family in your prayers! With love, on behalf of her husband, children and siblings. ❤️
