In April 2024 I was diagnosed with stage 3 Colorectal Cancer. A 5cm tumour was found during a routine colonoscopy and my world was rocked. I battled through 8 months of intensive chemo and radiation and successfully completed treatment through the pandemic in December of 2024. In January my scans were clear and I celebrated the good news that I didn’t need the major cancer surgery I was set to have. After a year and a half of clear scans I was rushed for another colonoscopy, MRI, CT scan and in July of 2024 I’m now told the Cancer has returned. My family and myself are devastated with this news and preparing for a rough ride as they’re wanting to rush me into surgery in the next couple of weeks. Recovery for this surgery can be long and painful and include many days either in hospital or at home resting. With my career being mainly seasonal I will be taking a hit financially again. Why can’t these things happen during the winter I keep asking myself, I just want a normal summer to spend with my daughter, my family and for work. I’m not great at writing about myself so I’ll insert below some beautiful words my lovely friend wrote about me when I was first diagnosed in 2024. “Lindsey is a wonderful friend and a beautiful soul, inside and out.
