In 2007, I met Emily Munchbach and we quickly became the best of friends. She has always taught me to find pleasure in the small things, to cheer on others unconditionally, and forever reminds me to choose kindness. Whether we're making meals together, dancing in the kitchen to country music, or exploring Newport, being around her is a breath of fresh air. The kindheartedness she has within her soul is beautiful. I’ve been lucky enough to witness the unbelievably strong bond Emily has with her mom, Elaine, and how it’s grown even closer after Elaine's fierce battle with breast cancer throughout our time in college. After graduating Salve Regina University in 2011, Emily went on to marry the love of her life, John Fay. A marriage built with love, joy, and support. It is nothing short of a fairytale. Just like her own mother, Emily has a natural maternal and nurturing nature. When she became a mother to Jack Andrew (4) and Josephine Grace (2), her world, and heart, felt so complete. The dedication and boundless love she has for her children is truly inspiring. Life took an unexpected turn when Emily found a lump in her breast in early June 2024, leading to a cancer diagnosis in both breasts. The Fay family was devastated. While in Wells, Maine, Emily’s favorite spot, during the 4th of July holiday, she and her husband John faced the reality of the situation. They knew the journey ahead would be challenging not only for them but for their children who are just too little to grasp the significance of it all. They both strive to maintain a brave face for their son and daughter, but the financial pressures of the upcoming medical journey weigh heavily on them. Emily is scheduled for a double mastectomy on August 3rd, 2024, and the recovery period of 6-8 weeks will be crucial for her family. This precious, hands-on time with her children cannot be recovered, and while they have a strong support network, the emotional strain, and financial burden is significant as John is the sole financial provider. While we can’t give back the priceless time Em needs to be with her kids during her recovery, we can ease the financial stress they are about to face. As Emily and John navigate mounting hospital bills, we're reaching out to their friends and family for donations to help them during this difficult period. Every contribution, no matter the size, will help Johnny to focus on continuing to be the incredible Dad and husband he is, and allow Emily to concentrate on her recovery for the battle ahead. The funds will be used to cover medical expenses and childcare support during Emily's recovery, giving her and John the peace of mind they need during this challenging time. Additionally, even if you are unable to contribute, please consider sharing this campaign within your network. Increased visibility and support will make a significant difference in their journey. Your generosity and collective support will mean the world to them. Thank you for taking the time to read my beautiful, kind, loving best friend Emily's story. Any and all support will have a meaningful impact on her, John, Jack, and Joey's life. If the roles were reversed, Emily’s unwavering spirit would undoubtedly be at the front lines with you and your family, for her courage and optimism radiate to all those who have met her. Let’s remind Emily that we are and will continue to fight with her. Johnny, Jack, and Joey Spring 2024 Emily & John's Wedding 2017 These kids LOVE to swim (Spring 2024) Emily after doing the Susan G.
