We are currently in the process of building a solar dryer and a storage unit/office in Bombo Majimoto , and we need your support! The solar dryer is crucial to fully prepare our crops for storage and gain more control over the volatile weather and the rainy seasons. For example, we are currently growing hot peppers, and when thoroughly dried they can later be ground into powder and sold in higher-value markets. With current project funds, we have already purchased the solar dryer. Now we must pay for the materials to be transported to Bombo, which will be an additional cost of 500,000 TSH, or $240. *NOT our solar dryer, but our inspiration/modelThe storage unit, or stoo, will provide a collective space for our Partners to safely store their crops once dried. This will allow our products to have a longer shelf life, and will give us more control over the weather and the markets. For example, when properly stored, garlic keeps for over 4 months. We can then have flexibility in going to market within that time and sell when the prices are highest.Since we have already exhausted many of our funds purchasing the solar dryer and paying for inputs in our current garlic harvest, we really need your support! The following are a list of items we still need to purchase in order to build our storage unit/office space.
