We come to you with a heartfelt request for our dear friend, Rann, who is currently facing a challenging battle against cancer. Rann is not only an incredible individual but also an esteemed member of the community, leaving a lasting impact through his dedication to the arts and his contributions to various cultural activities. Rann played a pivotal role in establishing Trikone and has been actively promoting the organization since 1987. He brought members together for potlucks, celebrations, and cultural events, fostering a strong sense of community and belonging. Rann is also an accomplished Kathak dancer. He has graced numerous stages with mesmerizing performances, sharing the history, traditions, and techniques of Kathak with audiences from diverse backgrounds. He has been a devoted student of Guru Shambhavi Dandekar and has performed alongside her best students. His dedication to the art of Kathak earned him a Lifetime Award from SISK (Shambhavi's International School of Kathak). The Battle Against Cancer: In June 2024, amidst the challenges of the Covid epidemic, Rann received devastating news - he was diagnosed with Gastrointestinal Cancer. He courageously faced intense chemotherapy and underwent surgery, where a significant portion of his stomach was removed. For a while, it seemed like there was a respite from the cancer, and hope for a cancer-free future was on the horizon. However, in March 2024, the cancer returned, affecting his kidneys and liver, leading to further complications and hospitalizations. Need for Help: Despite having health insurance and Medicare, the medical costs have been overwhelming, draining Rann's savings. Relying solely on Social Security as his income, he now finds himself in an incredibly difficult financial situation. The constant worry about covering bills and rent adds unnecessary anxiety, which can hinder the healing process. Our Opportunity to Help: Rann has been a great support for our community. Now it is our turn to support him during this difficult time. By contributing to this fundraiser, we can alleviate the financial burden on Rann, allowing him to focus on his health and well-being.
