Dirk Doege’s incident took place early Tuesday morning July 11th. He was trying to break a fight up and a man pulled an axe out of his trunk and hit him in the head. Per the surveillance video Dirk may have saved the man’s life. The video confirms this evil person was stomping the man’s head after he had knocked him out. Dirk wasn’t in a fight he was protecting the guy in the ground and in doing so was almost murdered. It resulted in a major skull fracture and bleed that lead to emergency brain surgery. In surgery they cleaned up the fragments, brain bleed, blood clot and removed about a 6” diameter of skull to give way for the swelling. In approximately 6 weeks he’ll have another surgery where they’ll put that piece of skull back in place. In the meantime that piece is being stored in a freezer at the hospital and he’ll wear a helmet to keep it protected. At this time the neurosurgeon has confirmed there’s no neurological damage and he’s basically a miracle. He’s in icu and their managing his pain, so he’s getting good rest. This unfortunately happened all while Dirk, is in a custody battle for his four children.
