Hi, my name is Katie Boudreaux and I'm fundraising for my long-time BFF, Kristin Mancina. On February 18, 2024, her life was turned upside down when leaving the Endymion parade during Mardi Gras in New Orleans. She became the survivor of a hit and run driver (still not caught) that struck her as a pedestrian at an estimated speed of 50-70mph at the corner of S. St. Patrick & Canal Street. My husband and I were a few feet ahead and we were barely missed. Quite frankly, with that impact, Kristin is lucky to be alive. Josh and I will be traumatized by this incident for the rest of our lives. Kristin's injuries included a broken right femur, left tibia and fibula, right humerus, pelvis (5 breaks), sacrum, ribs (2), traumatic right cranial third nerve palsy (impacts vision), torn meniscus and more. Furthermore, she is a full-time, single mom (physically and financially) to an almost 2-year-old daughter. While no one has a crystal ball, the silver lining is the doctors are indicating that miraculously, she should hopefully be able to return to work as a full-time licensed acupuncturist at a medical clinic within a year. She continues to undergo extensive rehab with very encouraging progress to get back to normal. Yes, she has begun walking again, but is about to undergo another additional major surgery soon with more to follow. Without a suspect in a pending hit/run investigation, there are no legal or insurance remedies to compensate her. She was discharged from the hospital to her parent's house and has had the emotional wrap-around support of her parents, additional family and friends. Everyone has asked how they can help and that answer is now clear 6 months later. We started a LFEBridge to help alleviate the financial strain of her medical expenses. Every dollar counts on Kristin's journey to recovery. Please share this with any family/friends who believe in the power of humanity to show one special person that there is light at the end of the tunnel. Thank you for taking the time to read this and thank you in advance for your generous gifts to support Kristin. With love, Katie Boudreaux CRIMESTOPPERS REWARD STILL PENDING: Reward up to $2500 for information leading to the arrest and indictment of the suspect(s) responsible for this crime.
