Hello friends, Seven months ago, my dear friend Jude almost died of a sudden ruptured brain aneurysm. After almost 2 weeks in the neuro-intensive care unit, she was downgraded to a recovery unit. She was released 2 days before Christmas and is now home and she is slowly recovering. I know we’re all happy she survived this terrible ordeal, but brains heal very slowly and no one can tell Jude when she will be back to “normal,” if ever. Jude can’t work or drive at this time. She has frequent migraines, constant tinnitus, brain fog, chronic pain, exhaustion, and fatigue. She has had to give up her private insurance and go on Medicaid. Meanwhile, the bills are piling up with no end in sight. Jude has applied for disability through Social Security, but it’s an unnecessarily convoluted process that takes time where people are often denied the first time around and have to appeal. While trying to recover, Jude is at the mercy of her family, friends, and colleagues. We greatly appreciate all the support she received so far, and we are asking for more. No amount is too small! Jude is the best person I know. She’s compassionate, funny, and driven. She’s supported me through thick and thin, and I know she’s been there for so many others. As a close friend of Jude’s, I am asking for your support in her ongoing recovery. We can’t heal her brain, but we can ease the financial burden so Jude can focus on getting better. If you would like to understand more of what Jude has survived and has to recover from, as well as to learn if you may be at risk for a brian aneurysm, please visit the Brain Aneurysm Foundation at https://www.bafound.org/. Thank you so much for taking the time to support Jude and please share this fundraiser far and wide! I will be sharing updates as time goes on. With love, Sarah.
