On Friday, June 30, 2024, my beloved friend and coworker Hannah Cipriano underwent a risky intensive brain surgery to treat a degenerative brain condition that she has been suffering from for over 20 years. In October 2024, she was diagnosed with a dural tear in her brain, causing a spinal fluid leak and erosion of her skull. If left untreated, her illness would gradually lead to loss of hearing, sight, and mobility, as well as a shortened life span. Thankfully, the surgery went well; we will not know for several weeks if it was successful, but Hannah is currently doing OK and we are all hopeful. She is recovering in the neurocritical care unit and hopes to go home to her parent's house by the beginning of next week. Undoubtedly, Hannah is incredibly strong. Fighting through daily pain and illness, she has been working as a server to provide for herself and her 6-year-old son, Kai, while attending school full time. She is only a year from fulfilling her dream of graduating college and becoming an elementary school teacher. Anyone who knows Hannah can attest to her resiliency and the beauty of her spirit. She radiates kindness, cares passionately about her friends and family, and leads her life with love and generosity. Her son is the love of her life and her utmost priority, and she works endlessly to provide a happy home and a secure future for him. Now is our opportunity to return some of that love and generosity to Hannah. Due to her declining health, she has been unable to work for the past month, and will not be able to return until she has healed and regained strength. We are not yet certain what that timeline looks like. In the meantime, I am asking that you donate and share this fundraiser so that we can lift the heavy burden of financial stress from Hannah's shoulders and allow her to focus on her health. She has a long and difficult recovery ahead of her, and very little support to fall back on. All donations will go directly to Hannah to cover medical expenses and living costs. Thank you!
