This fundraiser is for Georgia, her husband Jake and their young children. Georgia and Jake have had some very rough times in recent years due to Jake’s ill health and the loss of their son, Tommy. It finally looked as though their rough years had ended and in March they were able to get married and have the wedding they had always wanted.But, on 13th June 2024, Georgia was diagnosed with cancer. Georgia has adenoid cystic carcinoma which is a cancerous tumour in her mouth. This was found following a routine dental appointment and some further tests. It is a rare type of cancer and although medical professionals are hopeful they can successfully treat this, this type of cancer is commonly known to return and Georgia will now be a cancer patient for the rest of her life. Georgia will be undergoing major surgery to remove the tumour which has attached itself to some nerves and the bone at the back of her mouth. The operation has a long recovery process and could leave Georgia with lasting nerve damage. Georgia will also be undergoing radiotherapy after surgery.We all know that times are tough for everyone, but Georgia and Jake really do need our support. Georgia is already off of work, and is likely to be for at least 6 months, and she will need Jake by her side throughout her journey so he will also be off of work at times. Any financial help given to them will relieve the pressures of everyday life throughout this time by going towards their household bills and other expenses including fuel and parking costs for all medical appointments.
