With a heavy heart, I present to all a story of my father in-law, Steve Beam, a man who has worked hard his entire life, fall in dismal times and to an even more terrible tragedy. Steve worked and developed a career of nearly 30 years for a local foundry business that recently closed this past summer. Along with his much needed income to support his family, Steve found himself in a situation where he no longer had the health insurance benefits that once covered himself and his wife. With the tough economy today that most Americans face, Steve struggled to find employment he so desperately needed to help provide for his family. Nevertheless, as employment does remain a struggle, he and his wife did manage to find health coverage, but that of which is less than medicocre and with high deductibles.Progressing the situation from bad to worse, Steve Beam's health as of October 26th has succumbed to a horrific bacterial infection that has spread through his thighs, abdomen, and back. The situation is grim with the family hanging on to a thread of hope. Steve is diabetic so his ability to fight infection is difficult. After several very invasive surgeries coupled with heavy cocktails of antibiotics, saving his life is far from guarantee. Provided he pulls through, Steve faces a long road to recovery involving large amounts of reconstructive surgery in the areas where infected tissue has been surgically removed.Feeling helpless in such a dire situation, my wife and I have decided to reach out to anyone we could in this program for monetary donations, to help alleviate the stress and financial burden that the Beam family now faces as medical bills mount up from multiple surgeries, air tranportation, and the coming weeks of continued ICU treatment. A contribution of any size will make a world of difference for the Beam family.May God be with Steve Beam and his family, and God Bless all who have taken the time to hear his story.
