I'm raising funds for my brother-in-law, Julio de la Cruz, to help cover medical costs he incurred due to back surgery. In June of 2024, Julio started to lose mobility in his left leg. A month later, he began to lose mobility in his right leg as well. Doctors discovered fluid on his spinal column. To try to fix the problem, Julio underwent back surgery in August 2024, but it proved unsuccessful. So, he needed a second operation in November of 2024. This surgery was more effective, and since then, Julio has been going to rehabilitation therapy. He has gained some strength and movement in his legs but is not yet able to walk. Financially, this has been a hard hit for Julio and his family. The second surgery cost $4,285, requiring them to take out a loan. Julio's wife Paola is employed full-time as a teacher, but Julio has been unable to find work. He has applied for many jobs in his field of industrial engineering in his hometown of Aguascalientes, Mexico, but he has not found any company willing to hire a person in a wheelchair. A year and a half of unemployment has pushed his family into debt. We deeply appreciate any financial gifts, no matter how small, given in support of Julio and his family.
