Update: Thank you for the donations so far, we are so very appreciative. We’ve had a set back, Jordyn is in her 4th medical induced coma to stop seizures as of today 8/24 she has been in the coma for 9 days which is 3 times as long as the one before. We tried to lift the sedation a few days ago but, her brain had pre seizure activity so they had to increase it again. She also has a very bad type of pneumonia, overall she is doing well with it but, we did have a scare..her oxygen dropped and would not come up so they put a scope down her lungs to see and an area in her right top and bottom lung had collapsed, they suctioned out a lot of stuff and infection. We thought we were heading to rehab a couple of weeks ago, which is heartbreaking because it feels like we are starting over again. Jordyn has been in the ICU for 85 days as of today. She has 8 doctors working on her case and they say she is very rare and all the things that normally work, aren’t working. J.R. And I are exhausted, overwhelmed and scared that we won’t be bringing our daughter home. this journey is so much longer than we had ever expected and we have no idea when or how it’s going to end. Hi, my name is Joe Petty and I am setting this up on behalf of my sister, Jordyn Baldwin, and my parents, J.R. & Joy Baldwin. Many people know that my sister was diagnosed with JME about 7 years ago, a type of epilepsy that develops during teenage years and can peak later in life. She is medically sensitive so controlling the seizures and jerks has been very challenging and has drastically altered how she lives her life. On May 28th Jordyn was feeling very off, having a hard time remembering things and having a rough day. That evening she began having seizures that weren't stopping and had to go to the hospital in Cedar City, during that time she went into Status Epilepticus for the first time ever. She was released and on May 30th it happened again, and this time she was admitted into the ICU and life flighted to St. George and has since been moved to Northern Utah. Jordyn has been in and out of medically induced comas, and dealt with blood clots and pneumonia for the past 6 weeks as they work to find a solution. These seizures are different than anything she has ever experienced before and is not responding to medication that in most situations would control them and it's been mentioned she is in Super Refractory Status Epilepticus. Currently they are discussing options for brain surgery and seeing if she is eligible for a more advanced form of treatment, but that is to be determined. Jordyn has a long recovery and rehabilitation period ahead of her after she is through the thick of what is going on right now. My parents have been bedside with her for weeks and as such haven't been able to work as they normally would. The bills and expenses pile up pretty quick. They aren't the kind of people to ask for help but I know that they need it and wanted to put this together as a means to drive some support their way. The funds will be used to help them eat, pay household bills, and gas for commuting to and from the hospital. If you want to send anything direct, that can go to my mom.
