Our Father, Brother, Uncle, Friend, beloved Coach and an active community member, has been fighting idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis for the last two years. Leaving him with constant oxygen support and limited quality of life.  Joe recently retired from his position at Erie Community College (ECC) as Coordinator of Career Services making a daily impact on those about to embark on one's career journey. Joe has given his personal time for 45 years as a Volunteer Firefighter for the North Bailey Fire Company and for 35 years, Joe has been a Softball and Baseball Coach for Mel Ott Little League and a Defensive Football Coach for Turner Carrol HS, Canisus HS, Kenmore West HS, and ECC. His devotion for the sports and kids has led them to many victories and life lessons never to be forgotten.  We would love your support for a man who has given so much to his family, friends and community.  As Joe will be receiving a must-have double lung transplant at UPMC in Pittsburg, PA. where he will be staying post-transplant for at least two months with extensive rehabilitation.  Any and all funds will be used towards his medical and Out of Network expenses included but not limited to medical bills, immunosuppressant medication, medical equipment and rehab housing.  These funds will give him the opportunity to focus his energy and time on a long recovery, while he adapts to his new lungs. We are all very grateful for the support, love and prayers for Joe to live a longer life so he can enjoy his soon-to-be first Grandchild, children, family, retirement, and his commitment to servicing his community.  With Love, The Abbarno Family
