Our mother, Dale Brown, is an incredible human being, friend, team player, and teacher. You may know her for her free-spirited and independent nature, her industrious work ethic, or her ability to sensitively and creatively solve problems. Perhaps you see her as we do: she's the encourager of exploration and education; she selflessly offers fierce and deep love for those around her; she always supports our pursuit of the passions that move us; she is brave, resilient, thoughtful, and outspoken; she can cleverly ensnare and engage anyone with her stories and abilities as a writer. My mother is an extraordinary human being, and we are so proud of her and her accomplishments. Recent accomplishments include 16 years at her place of work, acing her US citizenship test, organizing her daughter’s engagement party, and supporting her firstborn son when he bought his first car during the pandemic. She is eager to attend her daughter's wedding this September. For the last decade, Dale has held a demanding, physical job and commuted quite a distance, supporting herself while “walking uphill under water’ with incredible fatigue, not knowing the extent of the cardiac issues she carried every day. On July 4th, Dale’s heart healing journey began when she required emergency hospitalization for sudden cardiac issues. Her workup showed that her arteries were 90% blocked, and she needed immediate surgery. It's hard to believe because she’s so young! Testing results indicated that she had rheumatic fever as a child and a strong familial history of cardiac issues. She underwent a quadruple cardiac bypass with four grafts (CABGx4) and a mitral valve replacement. She was in the right place at the right time and had one of the best cardiac teams in the country. Dale came through surgery well, but now a new set of battles begins. As a single person living in an apartment that doesn’t support the visiting rehab health team, she requires a safe and supportive environment for the next 6–12 weeks of recovery while she cannot fully care for herself. She has limited finances, and while her insurance may cover some of the cost, she's unable to meet the new financial burden of medical bills, rehabilitation and care, lifestyle adjustments, and day-to-day needs. This is where we seek your help, kindness, and generosity. We are starting this fundraiser to support Dale during this crucial phase. Our goal is to raise enough funds to ensure she has a comfortable and suitable place to stay during her recovery and to pay for her medical bills and rehab sessions. Dale has always been self-reliant, but now she needs a helping hand from the community she has touched with her creativity, generosity, and open-mindedness. No contribution is too small, as every dollar will make a difference in her healing journey. Your support will not only aid her physical recovery but will also bring immense emotional strength to her heart. Sincerely, Jeremy, Gabriel, and Solomon (Dale's loving children)
