On July 11, 2024 at approximately 11:00am the home of long time Baldwin residents, Bob O’Donnell and Jimmy O’Donnell, went up in flames. Thankfully no one was in the home at the time of the fire. The fire began on the front porch due to a possible electrical malfunction and quickly spread through the 1920’s wood house within a matter of minutes. The home and its contents were completely destroyed by the fire. The O’Donnell family has resided in that home at 2929 Yale Place for the past 57 years. All four sons, Robbie, Kevin, Jimmy, and Keith grew up in that home and were active participants in the Baldwin community. Bob O’Donnell has been proudly serving the Baldwin Fire Department for the past 55 years. Bob has been recovering from a broken hip injury at the home of his son and daughter-in-law, which was thankfully the reason he was not sitting on that front porch at the time that the fire began. Jimmy, who has been residing in the home daily, was actually visiting with his father the morning that the fire began. Bob has been actively working on his physical therapy in the anticipation of returning to his beloved home in the next few weeks. However, this devastating event has now made that impossible. The memories, photos, and the sentimental items that have been lost in this tragic event are irreplaceable. However, along with those irreplaceable items were the every day items that we all need to survive… shoes, clothes (casual and those to attend special events), jackets, boots, toiletries, etc. The purpose of this LFEBridge is to help Bob and Jimmy ease the financial burden of replacing these material items for everyday living.
