Scott Weiner and Derrek Lee are asking for your support in helping Billy and Alexa ease their financial burden. Please donate what you can or pass this link along. Hear directly from Alexa below.... Just over 2 years ago our lives changed completely. William (Billy) Witte, at age 41, was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis - ALS or Lou Gehrig’s Disease. ALS is a disease that attacks cells in the body that control movement. It makes the brain stop talking to the muscles, causing increased paralysis over time. It is 100% fatal.  Ultimately, people living with ALS become prisoners within their own bodies, unable to eat, breathe, or move on their own.   There is no cure in the world, and the disease typically takes people’s lives in 2-5 years post diagnosis. Estimates on annual healthcare for people living with ALS costs range from approximately $16,000 up to $200,000 and can vary depending on the stage of the illness. Indirect costs also add to the economic impact of the disease. 3 out of 4 people with ALS not only leave their family behind, but also leave them in debt. Before ALS I had a hard time asking for help when needed, and tried to do everything myself, even up until the point of burnout. I realize this is not something I can do anymore in the season of life we are in. Billy has always been and continues to be very generous and loves helping others. He’s still training clients virtually almost everyday. Even though his ability to speak is very limited, we’ve found ways for them to still have meaningful interactions. Most of these clients have been with him 10+ years and have become family.   He’s very prideful and wouldn’t ever ask for help - that’s where I am stepping up. He doesn’t need to worry about it on top of everything else. I do it all around here to the best of my abilities to keep our ship afloat!   These funds will help with medication costs, renovations to our home, various medical expenses, equipment, technology, and anything else relevant to supporting Billy’s health and comfort,   At the end of the day this sh!t is not for the faint of heart, it is real, and terrible, and you do what you have to do to survive as you care fiercely for those you love. I am doing everything I possibly can, but we still need help. I understand times are tough for all, so please only donate if you can, otherwise sharing this means the world to us too. Thank You!
