Joe Mancuso is an amazing father, husband, friend and US Army veteran. After over a year of frequent, intense migraines and being diagnosed with double vision, Joe was taken to Stony Brook ER on June 12, 2024 by his wife, Toni to receive an MRI to get more answers. Sadly, he had been denied coverage through insurance to have it done at an outpatient radiology facility prior even with those symptoms. That same day, they received the news that no one is ever prepared to hear: a tumor was covering 1/4 of Joe’s brain and he needed to be operated on immediately. After receiving the news, doctors, nurses and social workers wanted to ensure they knew the road Joe will have to face. Joe would have to undergo surgery, need inpatient rehab, chemo and radiation, etc. He had a successful surgery and the tumor was found to be mostly benign, however due to the tumor's location, treatment will be needed to shrink the rest and God willingly rid it for good. Joe is currently at inpatient rehab where he is receiving PT as well as other therapies to help regain the strength throughout his body that he lost after surgery. His next step will be treatment. The cost of the current medical expenses as well as the ones to come are astronomical for Joe and his family. Insurance will only cover so much of these expenses and even as an Army veteran, so can the VA. He is the sole provider for his wife and two small children and has been out of work for the last month since his ER visit. This has added additional stress to an already unfathomable situation. Both Joe and his wife, Toni are selfless people and help others whenever they can. They don’t ask how they can, they just do what they are able to without hesitation. Joe served in the US Army for 4 years and was deployed to Afghanistan for 9 months during his service. He is a loving father to his two children, Nathan and Adriana- dad, baseball coach, cheerleader and always puts them first. Please help in any way that you possibly can. No donation is too small. Funds raised will be directly availble to Joe and Toni Mancuso as the sole beneficiaries to help their family however they may need.
