Boozhoo, I am Alysha Beaulieu, an enrolled member of the Red Lake Band of Chippewa Indians. I am proposing raising funds to create two 4x2x1/8(L-W-H), acrylic painted signs encouraging Red Lake members to keep the reservation clean as well as to not burn garbage. I recently participated in the past two annual Red Lake Community Clean-Up Day and have noticed that the garbage disposal is not getting any better, it almost seems to get worse. I am also a hunter and when I notice garbage along the dirt roads or in the woods, I know we have a problem with education and holding ourselves accountable for putting our trash where it belongs. I feel that if our Red Lake members were periodically reminded by a sign on the junction of HWY 1 & MN-89, to think about future generations and how grateful we are to be rich in natural resources, that things may get a little bit better with the way garbage is being disposed of. My donation amount is calculated from a rough calculation of materials needed from HomeDepot along with the added fees from LFEBridge. If there are any extra costs, I will pick it up myself. I am hoping to get these signs done and in the community by snow fall this year (2024). Miigwech for reading! Remind yourself and others of where garbage is properly disposed of. Think to yourself "who is going to pick this up? or when will they pick it up?"
