Hi everyone, I have launched this fundraiser to help my good friend, Alastair Harte & his son Calem. He was the victim of theft in Doncaster, UK en route back to Ireland. Every effort was made by so many people across the UK and Ireland to help spread the word via social media, The post went viral and the trailer and Cosworth were spotted on the move with specific times, road numbers and junction numbers being relayed to Alastair vai social media however the police refused to do anything without a reg of the new viechle that was towing the trailer for it to be logged on ANPR. We all watched the car disappear in real time which was heartbreaking. Alastair has accepted that he will never see it again. The case has received a lot of publicity and clearly has hit a chord with members of the Petrolhead community throughout Ireland and the UK. For those of you that know Alastair you'll know how giving he is and would never ask anyone for help but I think it's time that he got some. The van they were driving was rented and the trailer was also rented, unfortunately, insurance won't cover it meaning Alastair is liable for the entire cost. Alastair is documenting the journey on YouTube and wants to use the story to raise awareness to prevent something like this from happening to others in the future. In 2001 Alastair purchased and built a 380bhp Sierra Cosworth which gained notoriety for the quality of the build. Alastair recounted the story of his beloved car to his son Calem (17) throughout his childhood. They decided that when circumstances would allow, they would recreate the memories and begin a new Sierra Cosworth build. After much searching, and saving, the perfect project "Cossie" appeared in the UK. Heartbreakingly, the entire rig, including the van, trailer and passports were stolen from the Hilton Garden Inn Hotel in Doncaster on the way home. Any money raised from this fundraiser is going to go towards the search for another project which will be documented on YouTube to keep the dream alive!! Let's see what the car community can do!! Thank you all!
