In 2006 my dad had surgery to remove the cancer in his face. The cancer was intertwined with the nerves and glands in the right side of his face and after the surgery his face was not the same and gradually became worse over time.It seems that a remnant of his perattid gland is producing saliva that has no way to exit into his mouth. Eventually, after enough pressure is produced, this fluid comes out into a little hole that has been formed his ear. This puts pressure on the nerves of his face which has paralyzed the entire right side of his face and mouth and is extremely painful. My dad’s ear canal is swollen shut because of the pressure, severely affecting his hearing. He suffers a continual headache and frequent shooting pains. The pain is excruciating when he coughs and, as many of you know, he has a continual cough due to a postnasal drip. This situation has been gradually getting worse and over the last year has become unbearable. A micro surgery needs to be performed to remove whatever is putting pressure on his facial nerves. This surgury will be performed in the hospital under general anesthesia, the doctor is ready to perform the surgery and my dad has a lot of faith in this doctor. As soon as we are able to raise the $2500.00 that the surgery will cost, we will notify the doctor that we are ready and the surgery will be performed within 7 days. Microsurgery will be used to clean up and repair the facial nerve and the remnants with be sent to the pathologist to search for any signs of cancer. This surgery will take place in Ensenada, about 3 hours drive from our home and we are hoping to raise at least an extra $1000.00 for travel expenses back and forth before and after the surgery and lodging for my parents over the 5 days they will be expected to stay in Ensenada.Despite the doctors prognostic, we are really trusting the Lord that there is no more cancer and that He will provide for this surgery so that dad can be pain free and regain the use of his face and mouth. Thank you to all who feel led to contribute to this and of course, your prayers are worth just as much, even more!P.S. If you put your thumb over the left side of dad's face in the picture you'll enjoy a glimpse of his encouraging, joyful smile of old. :)
