Hello my name is Rebecca Canann. For those that don’t know, my mother Stephanie Schmidt has been diagnosed with stage 3 level 2 breast cancer which is also in her limp nodes as well. Although we are taking it very well and being super supportive she’s a single mom. Anyone that knows my mom knows she would do anything for anyone regardless of the situation if she has the means to do it she’s going to! She’s always a fun time, shows so much compassion for everyone she embraces on a daily basis & if you live in town you may have encountered her at B&K. I’ve seen her take care of countless people throughout the years and now it’s our turn to do what’s needed for her so she’s not stressed along with dealing with all the stuff she’s about to endure. She is doing treatments in Cleveland which is a 2 hour drive from our location and the start of appointments are Monday 7/31. She has 4 children and 7 grandkids who love her to pieces. She’s the sole provider for herself & obviously has all of her own bills to pay as well including a car payment, rent payment, etc. She has nobody but us children. I myself have 6 kids & my sister who I take care of full time and my older brother and sister and niece live with my mother and work as well. So as it’s not her sole responsibility for bills we also all have to take turns and rotate who takes off to take her to treatments and what not which can be a lot financially on everyone but its only the 4 of us and only 3 of us can actually help. I’ve never been the one to ask for anything but if you’ve read this far and feel you can help in anyway weather it’s just a share, a donation or even just a helping hand or someone to talk to and help support us in this journey we would greatly appreciate it! All donations will be used for transportation to and from the hospital, bills & anything necessary to keep her as comfortable as needed during this process. update: she finished her last round of chemo last week 12/15 and her surgery is scheduled for 01/16/24. We are on a time limit due to her only having a 6 week window from her last chemo treatment. She can still use any and all prayers and donations due to still having zero income. She’s awaiting social security but unfortunately that process itself takes time and bills don’t stop update: 1/26/2024 Stephanie had her lumpectomy surgery done on 1/16/2024 in Cleveland. Here is where they found out they needed to take all of the lymph nodes as well unfortunately it causes some more health issues for her to deal with for the rest of her life but nothing not “doable”. However today 1/26/2024 she had her 10 day post op evaluation where they determined they did not get all the margins during surgery 10 days ago so they now have to complete a 2nd surgery on 1/30/2024 because all of the cancer was not removed. From there she will have a few weeks of recovery yet again and move on to 3 weeks of radiation 5 days a week which means she will be staying in Cleveland Monday-Friday for 3 weeks as traveling back and forth daily is not manageable for our family and our location being 2 hours away from her hospital.
