Hello, I'm JP Wilcox (Troopmaster at Trail Life USA troop WA-1911) and I'm starting this fundraiser to gather donations for the Paz family (members of our troop). Stephanie has been fighting a growing infection that was first found on her kidneys. It has since been determined that the source of the bacterial infection is actually in her heart (causing Endocarditis). Since June 1, she has been either in the ER, admitted overnight, under at-home treatment, or in the ICU (at the time of this posting, July 1). Once she's out of the ICU, ongoing at-home care will be required again. The present timeline puts her under medical care for a total of no less than three more months, with the expectation that recovery will take a year. If you've ever walked through a medical emergency with someone, you know that no matter how good your insurance may seem - there's always a pressing out-of-pocket portion. In addition to direct medical expenses, Tony Paz is a tradesman and tradesmen don't get paid time off. Every time he's off to take Stephanie to the hospital or stay home to watch the kids, it is a direct expense. Additionally, Stephanie has been working part-time to make the ends meet. She won't be able to work again for at least a year. Please join me in bearing this burden with the Paz family so that this emotionally taxing event might not be a financially taxing event.
