With more than 39,000 lives lost each year in the U.S. and over 1,000,000 lives lost worldwide, the importance of our mission has never been greater, nor our work more urgent. DID YOU KNOW? * There are 39,000 deaths by suicide in the US/yr. (The same number as breast cancer) * There are 600,000 suicide attempts in US/yr (this number is most likely under-reported). There are four times as many suicide attempts as there are breast cancer diagnoses, yet suicide is much less visible and much more stigmatized. * There are 1mm global deaths by suicide/yr * 1 in 5 high school students have thought about suicide * 1 in 10 college kids have thought about suicide * 1 in 3 people will have a diagnosed DSM illness in their lifetime, resulting in a tremendous loss in employee productivity
