Stella is 3 years old. On the 6th of Feb 2024, her parents found out she has B Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, which causes her to have many immature white blood cells in her blood and bone marrow. It was the last thing they thought it could be as she only had symptoms of limping and a bit of bloating. Initially the doctors thought it was hip dysplasia which was hard enough news so finding out her actual diagnosis was devastating not just emotionally but physically and financially. Unfortunately, she has endured a lot of trauma from treatment. Stella's Mum (Annette) was working five nights a week and had to quit her job to be there around the clock for Stella. This has had a huge impact on their financial situation. Stella's Dad (Trevor) is juggling work as well as caring for their three older children. On the 20th of June Stella had a stroke, this was a reaction to one of the chemotherapy medications, she was unable to use her right hand and right leg directly after the stroke. Stella was rushed to the hospital for an MRI, the doctors quickly discovered she has tiny blood clots throughout her brain. Annette and Trevor thought the leukemia side of things was starting to get better with treatment so such a significant side effect to the medications has shocked and devastated them even more. Stella is currently having intense physio, OT and speech therapy. They have to go to the hospital 3 times a week and often stay for weeks at a time, it's a lot on everyone. Despite the intensity of her treatments, Stella takes every day as it comes and doesn't let anything hold her back. We have created this fundraiser to try to alleviate some of the financial stress Annette and Trevor are currently experiencing, all donations are immensely helpful and appreciated more than you can imagine.
