Bob lives a simple life in Dolores, Quezon. He is a good friend, a loving husband, and most of all, a doting father to Bea, Meg, and Gela. He puts their needs first more than anything else, even more than his own.He is stubborn to a fault, and rarely complains of any ailment. On the morning of October 15, 2015, however, he expressed his concern over a warm and extremely tender swelling on his right thigh. To his family's prodding, he agreed to go to the hospital. When night came, his condition quickly deteriorated. He developed high fever and shortness of breath. His blood pressure dropped, his kidneys shut down, and he lost consciousness.Diagnosis: Septic ShockWe all thought we would lose him. We prepared for the worst, but at the same time prayed and held on. The next day, he received the sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick. It was truly a miracle when shortly after this, his blood pressure for the first time climbed up to 100/60. It gave everyone a glimmer of hope. Since then, he has been fighting hard for his life. He is still in the hospital, now on his second week at the time of writing. His blood pressure is stable, and his kidneys are healing with the help of dialysis. However, he is still battling sepsis. He still has fever, still on mechanical ventilation to help him breathe, and still has episodes of bleeding of unknown cause. Two weeks in the hospital with no health insurance has financially crippled the family. As of writing, the running bill is more than Php 300,000 ($7,000). This excludes doctors' fees, the Php 90,000 ($ 2,000) downpayment already made, and the daily expenses on medications (Php 160,000 or $3,500 so far) that were bought through contributions by close relatives and friends. The bill is expected to keep running as he is still not completely cured.Whether you are a relative, friend, acquiantance, or stranger to Bob, your contribution will help him keep fighting for his life and for his family.*Crowdfunding site created by Tricia, his cousin based in Lexington, KY.
