Please Stand Strong for Stanley Stanley is my 14 year old nephew with a diagnosis of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. DMD is a rare and incurable disease characterized by progressive degeneration of the muscles. It begins in the voluntary skeletal muscles and as it progresses it will eventually begin to affect the lungs and the heart. Over this past year Stanley has become significantly weaker and is now non-ambulatory, depending on a scooter or wheelchair to get around. In May of this past year Stanley was accepted into a 96 week drug treatment trial. This treatment may help slow the progression of his disease, and improve his quality of life, which is all any of us could hope for. The program requires a weekly 4 hour round trip to and from Rochester NY.  For my sister, (Renee) transporting Stanley in a family vehicle is becoming more and more difficult as he grows bigger and weaker.  Please help support me, helping my sister in raising money for a wheelchair accessible van.
