Hello. My name is Jim Hart. I was visiting friends on St John when hurricane Irma hit. I have seen the devastation first hand living amongst it being trapped on St John for a week following the storm. I am committed to helping the people of St John in any way I can as they can use all the help they can get.Hurricane Irma had devastating effects on the small island of St John where and estimated 60-80% of all structures were either completely destroyed or rendered uninhabitable. There are hundreds of families with children left homeless after losing everything. Food & water are scarce and bare necessities are unavailable. The children in this picture are only 3 of the many who suffered through the disasterous outcome of hurricane Irma. I know this first hand as a friend and I personally rescued them and their mom from their home in the middle of the storm. They were searching through the wreckage for whatever could be salvaged. They have been left with almost nothing as have thousands of others on St John and 10's of thousands throughout the Caribbean Islands. My mission is to raise funds to aid in the local St John relief efforts alongside those already in place. My goal is to manage the funds to assure that the donations go directly to those in need and to provide a weekly accounting of where and how the donations are being used. Please help me help the helpless who have no one else to help them.I find it very disturbing that there are nation campaign drives for Mexico earthquake relief funds but very little mention of the US Virgin Islands. This is why grass-roots fundraising is so important. The following photos are from the immediate area around where I was staying taken during my walks to & from the hurricane relief center and is only a small example of the total devastation that has taken place.
