We are Bill the Flying Goat Rocket Team from the SN CBW Pathfinders Division in the US Naval Sea Cadet Corps (USNSCC). We are competing in the American Rocketry Challenge. The American Rocketry Challenge is a competition where teams of middle and high school students from all over the US design, build, and launch a model rocket that meets all the specific requirements of the competition. The USNSCC is a youth leadership program for kids 10-18 years of age. There are units throughout the US and our unit is from Frederick, Maryland. Each unit is unique to its cadets, leadership, and local resources and each unit instills the ideals of patriotism and youth leadership in the cadets. Cadets are taught military customs, courtesies, marching, drill, and hands-on skills. Cadets gain experience in a variety of professions that will help guide them in their future career choices whether in the military or private sectors. We choose the name Bill the Flying Goat in reference to the mascot of the US Naval Academy, Bill the Goat. We are asking for donations so we can buy materials to build our rocket, and all the other materials that go into launching rockets, so that our team can be successful.
