The evening of October 15th started like any other. Tony, Anthony (13 yrs. old), Brayden (4 yrs. old), and Melisa were getting ready for dinner. Then the clouds rolled in and the rain and hail started. At first the kids enjoyed watching the rain but then Tony and Melisa started to notice the water getting higher in the streets. Within 10 minutes the water was at their front door. The car in the driveway had floated sideways so they couldn’t leave. They used every towel and blanket they had to try and stop the water coming in but it wasn't enough. Water wasn't just coming in from the doors now but from the bottom of the walls and pouring in through the windows.  Brayden was terrified at this point, crying and saying he didn't want to die. As the water filled the entire house and started to reach the outlets they made a decision to leave and go to higher ground.  They jumped out the window and walked through their backyard with water up to Melisa's chest, Anthony carried his little brother and Tony carried the family dog. They used a latter to climb a 10 feet brick wall jump into chest deep water on the other side and walk up the street where the homes were dry. Once they could return to their home they discovered it had been destroyed. Everything and been saturated.  The walls, insulation, cabinets, appliances and carpets had to all be thrown out. They lost furniture, clothes, toys, photos and so much more.  Currently they are unable to live in their house and are sleeping in the dining room of Melisa’s parents. Since they weren’t in a flood zone they didn’t have flood insurance and the government has said they aren’t offering any assistance. Any help you can offer would be so appreciated.  Our goal is to get them, and especially those boys, back home for Christmas. Please help us get them home!
